Re-purpose and Upcycle
Upcycle: to process (used goods or waste material) so as to produce something that is often better than the original.
I love to re-purpose things and make them into something that can be saved from a landfill. I was wandering around our local Goodwill store and I noticed an abundance of old mismatched sheets and wondered if there was something that could be done with them. I searched the web and found that they can be used to make rag rugs. I then went to YouTube and searched how to make them. I ventured back to Goodwill and was the crazy sheet buying lady that day because I just couldn’t buy one sheet to see if I could even accomplish this craft. I usually jump in with both feet and hope for the best. I love the part of the craft where you rip the sheets into strips (picture I posted of my dog Barney helping me) it is a great stress reliever. I started crocheting my rug and I was finished in about 3 hours which was great as I had never crocheted before. I encourage everyone to try it. There are a few other ways to do this craft other than crocheting. Have fun and save a sheet! (Barney our dog is an upcycled dog as we rescued him and re-purposed his life. See anything can be upcycled).
